Kawana, also known as kawana waters or buddina. Kawana is a mainly residential area of the Sunshine Coast with a few hotels available. The main attraction is Kawana beach which is patrolled in some areas. Point Cartwright is also an attraction along with La Bolsa Park and the Mooloolaba River entrance. Lots of great places for walking and relaxing.
Kawana is in between Mooloolaba and Caloundra but closest to Mooloolaba. So for a nice dining experience hit Mooloolaba esplanade one evening. Take a bus or drive to Caloundra to see Bulcock street and Moffat and Dickey beaches.
My recommendation for Kawana waters accommodation is Surfside on the beach or Beachside Resort. Both are family run hotels in the buddina area, extremely close to the beach and shopping center.
Bluewater Point is on the canal and main highway, it is NOT near the beach and it is overpriced. It may be the right option for people with yachts or boats.

Mooloolaba
Accommodation
Blessed with a heady mix of ocean beaches and riverfront Mooloolaba is a popular, central Sunshine Coast resort town. Experience the cosmopolitan ambience of Mooloolaba's cafe precinct right on your doorstep or indulge in the beachfront shopping experience of Mooloolaba's Esplanade. Delight in the white sand and sparkling surf that is along with the beachfront parks, playgrounds, picnic facilities and walkways.
Maroochydore Accommodation
Maroochydore is at the very centre of the Sunshine Coast, with Caloundra to the south and Noosa to the north. Cotton Tree, an ocean-side suburb on the Maroochy River, is a popular holiday spot, well-serviced by holiday flats and a caravan park. The rivermouth, which is a kite surfer's paradise, was once the site of a large timbermill from where the local lumber was shipped to Brisbane by paddle-steamer. There are river cruises, and great fishing opportunities in this aquatic paradise.
Caloundra Accommodation
Caloundra is a small seaside town located at the southern end of the Sunshine Coast, from which white sand beaches stretch north right up to Noosa. In 2008, Caloundra won the award for Queensland’s Tidiest Town. Much of the accommodation in Caloundra is located on the beachfront, such as on the popular Golden Beach or Kings Beach, with beautiful white sand and crystal clear waters. There are many things to see and do in Caloundra, whether taking a horse ride, going skydiving, boating, kayaking or visiting the surrounding national parks.
Maleny Accommodation
The rolling green hills and magnificent backdrop of the Glasshouse Mountains and Sunshine Coast are a magnet to painters, potters, sculptors, musicians and writers. Watch them at work and take home one of their creations to treasure forever.
Marcoola Accommodation
Marcoola is a small, relaxing tourist town in the center of the Sunshine Coast, half way between Noosa & Mooloolaba and close to Coolum. While the resorts and hotels located here have good modern facilities, the esplanade is still quite basic. Marcoola does not have chic ( overpriced? ) shopping and the restaurants and nightlife are limited ( 3 restaurants and a sports bar ).
